Radio Frequency Slip Rings, UEA’s Solution for High-Speed, Contactless Signal Transfer

At UEA, we hold the perspective that innovation is key to meeting the ever-increasing demands of signal transfer in modern technology. Traditional slip rings have, and continue to, perform well in many applications; however, radio frequency slip rings offer additional design versatility. They can either work in conjunction with traditional slip rings or serve as a standalone solution.

Advantage/Benefits

  1. Contactless design
  2. Maintenance free long life
  3. IP 65 to IP69 protected design
  4. Can replace standard product without any modification
  5. No carbon dust

Our RF slip rings employ a contactless signal transfer mechanism. Unlike their traditional counterparts, UEA’s RF slip rings utilize two radio frequency transceivers to transfer signals reliably without any physical contact. This approach ensures a seamless and efficient signal transfer process, eliminating issues associated with wear and tear.

One of the key advantages of our RF slip rings is their ability to transfer a wide range of signals, including CAN (Controller Area Network) and different Ethernet protocols, at a maximum speed of 5 Gbps. This versatility allows for the integration of RF slip rings into various applications, facilitating high-speed data transfer with ease.

UEA’s RF slip rings can be tailored to meet specific IP ratings, including up to IP69. This flexibility makes them the ideal solution for data transfer in conditions, where protection against dust, water, and other environmental factors is important. The ability to customize IP ratings ensures that our RF slip rings can adapt to the unique demands of different industries.

The rigid contactless PCB board-based design of RF slip rings sets them apart as the most reliable solution for transferring customer-specified signals at high or low data rates. Thanks to their contactless design, the performance of our RF slip rings remains unaffected throughout the entire operational life of the product. This reliability ensures uninterrupted signal transfer and minimizes downtime.

Our RF slip rings offer flexibility in design to meet customer specifications. With a minimum measurement of 0.7 inches wide and 0.6 inches high, these slip rings can be easily incorporated into various setups. Whether it’s a through bore design or fitting/enclosing inside a regular power slip ring, RF slip rings seamlessly integrate into existing systems without compromising functionality or space requirements.

Designed to withstand extreme environments, our RF slip rings operate within a temperature range of -40°F to 320°F (-40°C to 160°C). This capability makes them suitable for deployment in demanding conditions where managing temperature fluctuations is a challenge. The RF slip rings also feature enclosures that are customized to the customer’s application, e.g., nylon or steel, enabling businesses to rely on consistent performance regardless of the operating environment.
