Hydraulic Cylinder Innovations

1. Eccentric Bore Design with Internal return line.

Unlike conventional hydraulic cylinders, UEA’s cylinder features a bore that is offset from the center of the outer barrel. This eccentric design creates space to embed the return line directly into the cylinder body. By eliminating an externally welded return line, this:

• Prevents external damage that could occur with exposed lines.
• Enhances durability by reducing potential weak points.
• Simplifies installation while maintaining a compact profile.

2. Integrated UEA Flex-Guard Hydraulic Hose Joint/Swivel

Our Flex-Guard Hydraulic Hose Joint/Swivel is now integrated into the cap end of the cylinder, eliminating common issues associated with hydraulic hose bending and flex fatigue. This feature:

• Prevents hose failure caused by repeated movement.
• Enhances longevity of hydraulic hoses.
• Improves system reliability in heavy-equipment applications.

3. Solid Ductile Iron Construction – No Welds, No Weak Points

The cylinder barrel is machined from a single piece of ductile iron, offering:

• Strength and durability comparable to alloy steel with improved machinability.
• Integrated mounting ears directly machined into the cap end – eliminating welds that can leak or fail.
• Longer lifespan and enhanced performance compared to traditional welded cylinders.

4. Counterbalance Valve Placement

With the integration of UEA’s Flex Guard swivel into the cap end of the cylinder, this allows for a very convenient area for counterbalance valves to be located.  Typically, the counterbalance valves utilize a separate manifold block welded to the barrel near the rod end.

• Tucked away for protection, placing them at the ends of the Flex Guard swivel, the counterbalance valve is tucked away from danger.
