UEA is an ISO 9001:2015 and ISO/IEC 80079-34 explosive atmospheres certified organization. At UEA, we believe that the highest customer satisfaction is provided through quality slip rings, rotary unions, cable reels, and other precision components and our company has taken numerous steps taken to achieve the highest product quality standard as per customer-specific requirements.
At UEA, we believe there are three significant elements when it comes to quality, including supplier management of raw materials and sub-components, in-process assembly and machining inspection, and final inspection and testing.
Here is an overview of each part of the quality control system:
1. Supplier Management
Before ordering new material, each supplier goes through UEA’s supplier qualification process. The supplier assessment includes an on-site visit, an annual audit, and a production part approval process for each new critical component. Throughout this process, we evaluate supplier production capacity, quality programs, and customer service processes to make sure that the selected supplier provides an on-time, quality product. After establishing our supply management system, we reduced 95% of issues related to supplier quality and improved UEA’s on-time delivery to our customers.
2. In-Process Inspection
We perform specific quality checks for each product family. When a product is ready to be manufactured, we generate inspection steps that are tracked through a barcode with detailed instructions on what needs to be inspected. An ASQ-certified quality technician ensures that each step of the inspection is completed.
3. Final Inspection and Testing
We take each product through a series of final inspections and tests before it ships to our customers. UEA performs a standard set of criteria for each product line and can add customer-specified requirements to the testing as well. As part of our standard testing, we perform a detailed analysis of our product and keep the record for each job for customer review. Examples of customer-specified testing requirements could include a 360° noise test on a slip ring, a cold performance test on a rotary union, and a performance simulation test on cable reels and shift controls.
UEA goes above and beyond for our customers as part of the quality control system. If a return or repair is needed, our average RMA evaluation and repair time is less than 48 hours, and we also provide on-site and virtual assistance, if necessary.
